Apple patents integrated joystick for iPhone

Despite the astronomical success of gaming on touch screen devices, many still believe that the lack of a physical controller excludes smartphones from truly becoming gaming machines. Apple may be looking to solve that issue in a future model by adding a hidden, spring-loaded joystick.

Patents unearthed by Forbes relate to a Multi-Function Input Device, but don’t get too excited. The patent was initially filed in 2013 and hasn’t made its way onto any leaked designs yet.
